Line and Arrow, Paint

2 questions/issues:
I used the Line and Arrow tool, in hopes of drawing multiple perfectly horizontal and vertical lines, but it appears (at least that I can find) the tool does not have that capability, without some fiddling. I tried first setting a grid on the page then using the grid lines as guides, then redoing the line on a blank page using Reload last settings, but that becomes quite cumbersome for multiple lines. Is there an easy method to achieve this?
And, I also used the Paint tool, with a specific line width to draft multiple lines across the page from edge to edge, where they were not perfectly horizontal and criss-crossed each other. In an attempt to do this easier and in a more fluid manner, I reduced the size of the page by zooming out, then criss-crossing the page in multiple lines (where I started and ended off the page).
However, the program introduced "+" marks (temporary) along the pen path but often only drew the line to the last "+" mark, rather than taking the line right to the edge (even though I could actually see the line following the pen to the edge). This was hit and miss as to whether the line was drawn to where the last "+" had been set or to the edge. I thought the speed at which I was swiping the pen across the page may be contributing to this, so I slowed that action but the problem persisted.
Second issue, if I clicked OK and closed the tool, then re-opened it to draw more lines of the same width/color, when I tried Reload last settings, a warning "Paint input does not match original image dimensions. Clear all painting?" appeared. Not knowing what this meant, I clicked OK, which caused PWP to crash.
