Composite Images - Choosing an Image

Post by Marpel »

Just a convenience thing,

Often I have many images (actually thumbnails, of course, either in a a branch or on their own as a single) open, from which I composite with the base (Input) image. As an example, today I had well over twenty.

Back "in the old days" when I had multiple images open in the workspace (often reduced in size so I could see all/most), I could quickly choose an image intended for Composite overlay, by first clicking on that image, then clicking on the Input image. When I opened Composite, that last image clicked on became the Input image and when I clicked on the Overlay box, the title of the second-to-last-clicked was second under the Input image in a list, which made it easy to choose the image (I automatically chose the second in the list), rather than trying to find it somewhere in a long list. In fact, if I first clicked on a Mask image, then the intended Overlay, then the intended Input, those three were 1,2 and 3 in the list when I clicked on the Overlay or Mask boxes.

Now, however, it appears the list is composed of the image, subject of the most recent operation, on down to the last transformed, even if I click first on another image somewhere else in the Browser window then click back on the intended Input image. So, as an example, the first opened image will be the last image in the list. When the Transform chain(s) becomes long, it often causes me to search down a long list, sometimes having to scroll to an out-of-view title.

Although I find this behaviour neither narcissistic nor dictatorial, any way to solve this conundrum?

Yes, there is a better way -- once you click the Image control and the image menu is displayed, you can then click on the image you want to select in the Image Browser.
