3 tone mask for B&W?

Post by bbodine9 »

Has anyone on the forum experimented with the 3 tone mask for B&W photos? It seems like it might be another way to adjust the various tonal levels.

Experimented -- No, but used 3Tone masks to achieve preference toning for a BW image's shadows, and/or midtones, and/or highlights -- YES.

In another message posting... BobC said it best:
B&W is more abstract – all we have to work with is V. Most photographers have their favorite approaches, but many regard each image as a special case for which the tone distribution is to be customized for emphasis of the photographer’s interpretation of the subject.
