PWP v8 (5/19/19) installed
Windows 10 start menu = 'Picture Window' folder + PWP v7 link icons for exe, help and readme files.

D/L and Run PWP v8 (6/3/19) msi installer
message = "Another version of this product is already installed. . . . Use Add/Remove programs on the Control Panel."
Control panel | Apps Uninstall PWP v8.
Run PWP v8 (6/3/19) msi installer
No 'another version' message.
Windows 10 start menu = PW folder + PWP v7 link icons. NO PWP v8 link icons in this folder!

select [Run anyway]

select [OK] then Control panel | Apps and uninstall PWP v8 (6/3).
Run PWP v8 (6/5) msi installer
no Windows Defender message; no "another version' message.
Windows 10 start menu = PW folder + PWP v7 link icons. NO PWP v8 link icons in this folder!

a) the installer should uninstall the installed version
b) installer should put the links to the version 8 exe and help file into the 'Picture Window' folder. And create the folder if it is not there.

Once the beta period is over, I will start incrementing the official version number and you will not have to manually uninstall the previous version. This should be happening relatively soon.

On my computer, the installer adds PWP 8 to the Start menu along with PWP 7 (see below):
