Wave transformation - two problems with Custom image

There are two scenarios:

1. Start Wave
Choose Custom Image -> do not load an image
Click on the Mask square -> PWP goes down

2. Start Wave
Choose Custom Image
Load an image -> you are asked to confirm conversion twice and get accordingly three thumbnails:
the loaded mage, wave preview and a smaller Custom image (for split image area)
Create a mask and leave the mask dialog open
Close the loaded image - PWP crashes

Some more observations:
The Custom image must be clicked on its top to display in the split image area

Sometimes PWP goes down when I just close the Mask dialog after creating a mask, sometimes when I double-click the loaded image with the mask dialog open and a created mask but I have not discovered any regular pattern it it.
