Sharpening after Re-sizing

I understand that an image which is resized may require a bit of sharpening.

However, I am resizing images which are 7360 x 4912, but only on the long side, to make them square (so crunching the 7360 down to the same length as the shorter side). Can I presume that this type of resizing would require similar sharpening?

I can only suggest you try it and see if it makes any improvement.
