Multipass Sharpen with 16 bit masks and Monochrome

Post by johnp »

I am seeing a problem when using Multipass Sharpen with a monochrome image.

I open the Multipass transform, then click to create a new mask. If leave the default 8 bit mask, I then use the color range tool to mask to only some white sea foam bubbles. All works as expected, I can see the sharpened thumbnail and can toggle between the original and sharp images just fine. I can then click the button to sharpen the whole image and all is well.

However... If I select a 16 bit mask to create, everything works fine until I click the 'compute entire image' in the sharpen tool. The main image does not change, but the thumbnail still show the sharpened image or the input image as usual. The only problem is that the output image is never updated.

Thanks!

Looks like it was an overflow issue when applying 16-bit masks to 16-bit images in some cases. Fixed for next release. It did not show up in the preview because the preview is computed on 8-bit subimages.
