Dimensioning with double arrows and a value

Post by tomczak »

The Lines, Arows, and Text transformation can be used to include dimensions on an image with double arrows and the text box in the middle showing the value. I can draw them separately, but I wonder if there is a way of attaching a textbox to a double-headed arrow, but in the middle of it, not at one end?

Unfortunately not. You could however draw a single two-headed arrow and then place a separate text box over the middle of it so that it obscures the background rectangle behind the text box.

Thanks. I was thinking that this (i.e. attaching a text box to an arrow but not only at the end of it) could be useful not only for dimensioning. A while a ago I had a project where I needed to show the flow of something with a single-headed arrows, but labeled along each arrow (labeling them at the beginning didn't work visually - it implies labeling whatever the arrow points to, not the arrow itself.
