In this scenario, the input images are 48-bit linear dng files containing a Nikon Z8 image of about 40 Mpx.
Whenever any setting is adjusted in Raw Develop, there is a very noticeable delay of a few seconds with the message "computing mean image" displayed in a message window.
Is there a way to speed up the reaction time ? perhaps some computations are redundant or can be streamlined ?
Thanks

Re: Raw develop transformation : delays computing mean image
I believe this is the same phenomenon as described in this thread:

If you reset all settings in Raw Develop and then adjust what you need but leave alone the Sharpen Tab/Sharpen Factor = 1 slider, the Mean Image recalculations should go away. Alternatively, you could temporarily change the Operation in the Sharpen Tab to Blur with R = 0 to accomplish the same.

The Mean Image calculation is part of sharpening. If you defer sharpening until the end you will avoid the delay.
