This one has appeared previously in the forum but it bears repeating: to see a before/after view in any Transformation, shift-click on the amount square in the Transformation window. When the mouse button is pressed, Amount=0, which is the “before” view. Release the mouse button to see the “after” view. |

Shift - click left / right form sliders handle, increases / decrases amount at 0.1% (ecactly 1/1024). Shift - click adds control point in curves, histograms, color picker. Ctrl - click deletes control point in curves, histograms, color picker. Shift - click when starting a transformation stets it back to default values. PgUp / PgDown scrolls vertikal in a image. Home / End scrolls horinzontal in a image.

Crop / Add Border: Shift - click into the croping rectangle allows to rotate it. Histograms, Curves: Probe, when active Click in picture shows value in histogram / curve, shift - click sets control point at this value. Higher resolution Windows with curves / histograms are resizable, for higher resolution.

Decided to compile the tips (thru 3/1/05) for easier reference. A word.doc is attached for those interested. Thanks to everyone for your inputs. 1. Before-After Transformation Views: Shift-click on the amount square in the Transformation window to see a Before-After view. Press the mouse button to see the “Before” view (Amount=0), and release the mouse button to see the “After” view. 2. 0.1% Slider Movement: Shift-click to the right or left of the slider handle to move the slider 0.1%. 3. Add Control Points: Shift-click to add a control point to a curve, histogram, or color picker cube. 4. Delete Control Points: Ctrl-click to delete the selected point on a curve, histogram, or color picker cube. 5. Default Transformation Values: Shift-click to start a transformation with the default values. 6. Vertical Scrolling: Press the PAGE UP or PAGE DOWN key to scroll vertically in an image. 7. Horizontal Scrolling: Press the HOME or END key to scroll horizontally in an image. 8. Cropping Rotation: Shift-click in the cropping rectangle to rotate the image. 9. Probe Values: Click in the image to display the value in the histogram. Shift-click to set the control point to this value. 10. Histogram Resolution: Increase or decrease the histogram window size to increase or decrease the histogram resolution.

This one is well documented in the manual, but I found it to be very useful, so it bears repeating here: It is possible to enter an arithmetic expression into a numeric field. For example, it is possible to resize an image a 10% multiplying its length by 1.1 (the result is rounded to the closest integer value). For writing an arithmetic expression the usual operators (+,-,*,/) can be used. |

BEFORE/AFTER VIEWS IN ADVANCED SHARPEN Before/After/Difference buttons will display changes for a particular AS step. Shift-clicking on the Amount square will show the original image. e.g. Being in Sharpen panel after completing Noise Reduction step, the Before button will show the unsharpened, but already noise-reduced image; shift-Amount will go back to the original image before noise reduction was applied. |

I have a question on image quality upon opening an image. My images come on the screen with about 80 pixels per image. I have gone through preferences to change this but have been unable. Please guide me to where I can set a standard of at least 150dpi upon opening of images. Thanks |

You can set default resolution (dpi) in File/Preferences. However dpi does NOT affect image quality. Quality depends on the total number of pixels in your image, which is not affected by dpi. Kiril |
