text transform not functioning

Hello: I have the latest 64 bit version of PW and have been trying all evening to add text to an image.
It's never been a problem in previous versions (5+) but this time I'm stymied.
The tranform menu opens, I choose a font, color, and background color and none of them show in the preview and only blank text position box shows in the image -- i have font size 30 pixels, linespace 1.5
i have rebooted several times. still no luck
the transformation seems to be non-transformational so to speak
any help greatly appreciated

The box in the input image is supposed to be empty - it simply shows where the text will be placed in the output (or preview) image. The text should show up in the preview. If not, perhaps there is a problem with the font you are using and you might try a different one.

Thanks for the note. I understand how the preview should work, and checked it again with version 5.
The problem is that the preview shows nothing at all: no text, and no background color.
I have tried several fonts, Times Roman, Verdana, Arial, etc.
But the font is not the problem: the background isn't working either.
It's very strange. There must be some simple setting somewhere that I'm missing.
All the other transformations work properly.

I take it that text and background transparency are not both set to 100%.

no (they're set to 0%), but I have discovered that the background color is in fact working (I must have made a mistake last night)
So I can control background color but no fonts are showing -- although all of my installed fonts show in the dropdown box
I have tried many fonts now -- none work
it appears that the transform is unable to load any font
i have text transparency set to 0 -- but no text display in the preview window
is there a Windows setting (64 bit) that might allow PW to grab the fonts?

Is this the first occasion that you've tried to use Text in the 64bit version?
If so, I suggest that you un-install and download a fresh file and re-install.
If you've been using the 64bit version for some time AND text has been working, I'd suggest un-installing and re-installing.
Good Luck!
Mike.

(in fact i have not previously tried the text transform with the 64 bit version)

The re-install took care of the problem, thanks very much.
But i realized when it worked that the problem had been simple:the wire frame that shows on the image window (for position) is properly positioned inside another wire frame which sets the boundary for the image.
--that boundary wire frame had been reduced to a tiny size at the upper right corner--hence the non-appearance of the text. It never occurred to me to just grab a corner of it and expand it to fill the image area.
but the long way around solved the problem
thanks again

Ahh! - yes. I'm familiar with that problem. Very puzzling it is too.
Having gone through all this pain you're certain to remember it next time it occurs.
Mike.

Thanks for this thread; I had the same problem, likely for the same cause. Upgrading to 6.0.9 fixed it, and all is working nicely now.
A request for the text transformation: add the capability to create text on a radius, e.g., to form a semi-circular arc of text around a seal. I'd find that handy for some of my work. Thanks.
