What are people doing these days to get over this challenge.
My search of old posts came up with this:-

DEN has taken the URL offline. I have written to him asking if he kept the post. In the meantime does anyone have a plan of attack?

This is a hard problem, especially when the wisps get down to the pixel size.

I'm trying using the Separate Tool on the wisps.

First attempt and not brillant. "Must try harder"
As per DENs thread one you sort the wisps the rest of the mark can be cleaned up in Brush.
REQUEST. I would love a hotkey to be able to Invert the mask (and turn it back again) as when I work with the Brush I am removing as much as adding. Can I set one Jonathan?

There is one already -- F3 and F4 set Add or Subtract modes respectively.
