RAW profile help needed

I shoot RAW with a Ricoh GRiii

I am convinced my starting point is flawed as I must need a profile.

The top left thumbnnail is my RAW from the camera

To its right is the ex camera jpg - so much brighter.

Second line down is me using Jonathan's Profile Creator

The graph looks wrong to me - as does the output image on the right hand side of the main screen. I have read J's paper but cannot see how I adjust anything. I cannot also see exactly how I'd name the profile (if it was good enough to save) so the profile could be called in the RAW convert transformation.

If anyone is interested enough this is the RAW.

All help appreciated as I fear I am at a stop point with PSW8 until I get these RAWs sorted.

I recommend using a RAW converter such as the one that came with the camera or some other 3rd party raw converter before you try to create the profile. Also Match Reference may work better than creating a profile if you are going to use a Color Checker as a target.

Thanks J,

I can't find a RAW converter for the Ricoh GR iii but I'll keep looking.

My feeling is that they need a lot of work. Would you expect to see this graph on what seemed to be a perfectly exposed image in the viewfinder?

J,

I saved the result of that Match Reference.

Where do I pick up the changes when I start on another RAW?

"I recommend using a RAW converter such as the one that came with the camera or some other 3rd party raw converter before you try to create the profile."

With that in mind I am experimenting with using Luminar to export TIFFs but without any processing.

Will report.

In the Match Reference settings menu, you can save its results as a Color Curves file and optionally also a Selective Color Correction file. You can load these files in their respective transformations and it will apply the corrections from Match Reference. The Color Curves does most of the work -- you may or may or may not get an additional improvement by apply the Selective Correction transformation after doing the Color Curves.

Sorry Jonathan.

Can't get it to work with the PWP RAW converter so I'll spend today experimenting with TIFFs exported from Luminar and DXO.

Update.

DXO is the better of the two. It also offers an untouched TIFF or one with some basic handling. Both seem identical to my untutored eyes so I'll take the doctored version as it may do some lens correcting.
