So, I've tried downloading the new .msi file with three different browsers, but each time they "detect a virus" and cancel the download.

This is a function of your antivirus software and not the browser. I can download the msi file here using Chrome and Windows Defender which is what I use for antivirus. While there is no way to prove beyond a doubt there are no viruses in PWP, it is far more likely this is a false positive from your AV software. Depending on what you are using, there should be a way to temporarily disable the AV software.

Thank you for the information. I only use Windows Defender:

I haven't had this issue with any previous downloads. I updated to 8.0.378 by downloading the .zip executable, but I hope I can download the .msi version in the future. I'm unaware of how to whitelist files with WD, if that's even a possibility.

Update: more details from WD:

OK, I am seeing it here too. I am currently running a full virus scan on my computer and will try to build a new version to test after it finishes. Estimated running time is about 36 hours. It looks like the quick scan may have found a virus and removed it although it did not report any details. I have rebuilt the msi file and was able to download it without any virus warning, so everything should be OK now.
