Under Windows 11, File > Print Setup seems to work but the setup is ignored when File > Print follows.

The trouble is that all print settings made using File > Print Setup ... are ignored in the popup and at the File > Print step. For example, paper size, orientation, print quality and so on.

I am using an old HP Photosmart D7160 printer.

You appear to be correct that Print Setup is not working.

It is normal for File/Print to start by displaying the Window Print dialog box which lets you set up the printer. When you click Print (or Impression), you then get the Picture Window Print dialog box which lets you adjust additional settings unique to Picture Window. I have not used Print Setup in quite a while -- it used to work in older versions of Windows in that the settings would be used to initialize the print dialog box so I will need to investigate why it is no longer working. In the meantime you can just ignore File/Print Setup since it is unnecessary.

I looked into why Print Setup is no longer working and apparently at some point Microsoft decided to replace Print Setup with Page Setup as is used for example in Microsoft Word. In any case, I have removed the Print Setup command from the next release and will consider if it makes sense to implement a Page Setup command in some future release.
