Could it be possible to allow the readout tool during image compare.
For example by dragging a readout tool's probe over image A or image B ?

Currently, the readout tool and all the other tools are only designed to work on the main image area. To implement this I would likely need to add a separate readout tool within the Compare dialog box.

Re: feature request : readout tool while comparing images
This may not be ideal, but if you keep the Compare dialog box open (perhaps make it a bit smaller so it doesn't obscure the main image area) and the Readout tool on, you could toggle A/B buttons and then press Apply for either A or B appearing in the main image area, they use the Readout tool on the this. The problem is that to click Apply, you need to move the mouse (I tried to find the shortcut for Apply, but F1 only works as Enter and closes the Compare dialog box.
p.s. Just an idea, but possibly not the greatest one: what if right-clicking on Compare thumbnail would have an option of outputting A or B without opening the Compare dialog box? - this way you could stay on some downstream transformation but flip the version of images that you see there and probe with Readout - probably too many recalculations... I always thought of Compare not only for what its title suggests but also as a 'decision-maker/splitter' of sorts.

In the same vein, another technique is to use the Blend transformation instead of Compare, and set it so that the output image is the overlay image. Then you can use the readout tool to display corresponding values from either image. What would make sense as a new feature would be to allow the readout tool to give simultaneous readouts of the input and output image, like the magnifier tool. Then you could directly compare values in the input and output images.
