An update is available to Version 8.0.28 (4-Jan-2020)

The changes (taken from the update log) are:

Levels and Color: now starts up set to Reset. Selecting Reset Dynamic Range toggles this setting. Scripts created by versions 8.0.25 or earlier default to Not Reset for compatibility.

Drop Shadow Control – fixed problem causing drop shadow color control to be invisible.

File Open now records, in its command line, which files in the file list are selected, and restores the selection when the dialog box is opened. It also now displays the total number of files in the file list and the number of selected files.

File Open: added a new tool bar to select single/multiple batch. This allows batch processing files in groups instead of one at a time, for example to process lists of left/right stereo image pairs. For more information see the updated help (File Open and Batch Processing topics) or Batch Processing.pdf. Removed Single Step mode as it was not working correctly and could not easily be fixed. Removed the ability to hide the Batch Status dialog box.

You will need to do a full install to get two new bitmaps used in File Open.

Is it possible to sort file lists in File Open manually? - I can think of how this could be potentially useful in the new multiple batch processing.

Renaming the files from the File Open list dialog box and then sorting it by name is the closest I could figure out...

It looks like the Windows File Open dialog box sorts files alphabetically if you select more than one file at a time. Currently there is no way to rearrange the file list other than sorting it.
