As noted in another post, the issues I will describe may be related to my computer and not PWP8. If you can confirm...

I can't do a single click clone (regardless of the size of the clone radius). If I do a single click, nothing is cloned. I have to click then move the cursor slightly for it to work.

When I clone (either with mouse or pen) some pixels just outside the clone circle are affected. If I am cloning while moving the cursor, it reminds me of a bow wave in front of a ship where the water is affected well in front of the actual physical structure of the vessel. It's only a couple pixels in front and you have to zoom in to 2:1 or greater to see it clearly but it is obviously outside the clone diameter circle. The consequence of this is, if I want to clone up to a border (I was cloning the background around the petals of a flower), the cloning happens beyond where I want it to.

Disregard the issue of the "bow wave". I tried the same thing again with a different mouse to see if the mouse was causing what I saw. As it turns out the effect is still observable but it only occurs when the cursor is moved close to an area that has just been cloned and, although those pixels at the edge of the previous strokes do move out of the way a bit, as soon as the mouse is released, the pixels move back into place, so it appears, no harm no foul.

The single click issue remains, though.

Thanks for reminding me about the single click problem. I had noticed it in passing myself but never got around to fixing it.
