Windows 7 'Save as camera default'

On my new Windows 7 64 bit machine I am trying to 'Save as camera default' from the RAW dialog and keep getting an error that PWP cannot save the file. I suspect this is some sort of permissions problem but having tried the following things I still cannot get this to work:

1. Change permissions on the directory tree and file that PWP is trying to save (permission changes don't seem to stick though!)
2. Run PWP as Administrator

I am sure I saw similar problems in these forums with Vista but cannot find any references.

It does sound like a permissions problem.

Camera default is simply a workflow which records your raw settings at the time you save it as Camera Default. The workflow is saved in the the user's application data folder. You can see the exact pathname in the registry under
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Digital Light & Color\Picture Window\Color Settings. Look under the key _rcwfl:<camera name>. You want to set permissions so that Picture Window can read and write to this location.

My Window 7 system is currently under construction, so I can't actually try it at the moment.

Fixed! What I did was remove the three references to camera default entries in the registry: "_rcp: Canon EOS 40D" "_rcparam: Canon EOS 40D" and "_rcwfl: Canon EOS 40D" started PWP and all worked fine.

One thing I noticed is that the first two registry entries did not reappear.

Kiril,

This sounds like something that needs to be fixed in PWP. You can not expect most users to go into the Registry and make changes. I for one would never attempt a change to the Registry. I am not even sure I could find it.

This could have been a problem I caused, let me explain:

I purchased a new computer and wanted to move my PWP settings without having to set everything up from scratch. I exported the registry entries for PWP and imported them onto the new computer. As I was migrating from Window XP to Windows 7 64 bit I suspect that something was not quite right due to OS changes.

My guess is that for a brand new install everything would be OK.

Sorry about the confusion :-(
