When you Reset a mask using the Settings command, it always jumps to some default location near the lower left corner.
The same happens when you relocate a mask dialog and then choose most of the tools in the bottom tool bar.
Could this be avoided and let the mask dialog stay where it was relocated?
It can be automatically moved up just in cases there is not enough place to expand the mask dialog body, which some of the tools need.
Mask dialog jumps when reset or with some tools

I am thinking of adding a command to the Mask settings menu to dock or undock the mask dialog to the transformation dialog.

Re: Mask dialog jumps when reset or with some tools
Currently, if you close the mask dialog - whether by clicking on another image in the image browser, a Reset from the transformation or a Reset from the amount control menu, the next time you create a new mask it reverts to the default position just above the transformation dialog box.
Contrary to what you are claiming, what I see is that if you move the mask away from the default location, the mask dialog is considered undocked and changing mask tools leaves the mask dialog where it is.
In what way would you like to see this behave differently?

Re: Mask dialog jumps when reset or with some tools
I did some more experimentation and found out why sometimes the position is reset and sometimes it is not -- the decision about whether the mask dialog box is docked to the transformation dialog box was based only on the y coordinates. I have changed it for the next release to look at both the x and y coordinates to see if the lower left corner of the mask dialog box is close to the upper left corner of the transformation dialog box.

Re: Mask dialog jumps when reset or with some tools
Just to explain what I ment. Let us say you create three masks, using the Mask Transformation, and reorganize them for example in 3 rows one above another. As you click their thumbnails they reappear and disappear accordingly at the locations where they have been relocated. That is OK.
Now suppose you want to edit the uppermost mask. But when you click on one of the tools in its bottom tool bar or use the Reset command, the mask dialog jumps from its top position back down and now occupies more or less the same place as the bottom mask dialog and needs to be relocated up again to its top possition to preserve the order.
The question why to reorganize the mask dialogs if only one can be displayed at a time is that they can be more comfortably distinguished or identified then when they are all displayed in just one place.
It si just a nice to have if there is nothing else to do.
