The Composition Overlay list seems always to skips the next image downstrem. Just the one below it.
One comment:
I see the absence of the dialog input square in some transformations as a step back because there is no information which of the images is an input.
With Composite you see the overlay image in the Overlay square and as the tiny thumbnail next to the transformation thumbnail. But you must remember which image is the input.
Perhaps something like "Input:" might be placed before the input name in the list.
In the Stereo transformation it could be: "Left:" and so on.
I guess that most, if not all, of the expandable lists is one universal control filled on the run, so customize it in this way for different dialogs makes it less clean, still, some information about which image is the current input would make the transformation more readable.
Or what about another color to distinguish the input? There are already gray, white, brown, green...

Re: A missing image form the Composite Overlay list
I fixed the problem of some downstream images appearing in the image menu for the composite overalay image. Downstream images are excluded from the list to avoid circular references.
The current code does not lend itself to implementing your suggestion easily, but I will keep it in mind.

Re: A missing image form the Composite Overlay list
It does not matter much, just nice to have.
What I do find helpfull is that you can always narrow the browser to isolate fast just the branch with the current image.
This brings me to another crazy idea: what if, rather then changing the color or whatever, just display a temporary connection line between the two coupled images. Once the transformation is done or cancelled the line would disappear.
One more comment.
It is not possible to replace the input image in an open dialog because the input icons were removed in PWP8. But what was also removed is the Preference option Save Settings: yes/no.
Now, if I need to change the input, I have to close the dialog by which I lose the current settings.

Re: A missing image form the Composite Overlay list
In the Settings menu there is an option to load the last settings used. This lets you repeat an operation with the same settings.
To change the input, you need to move the transformation to a different location in the image tree. You can move a transformation up or down in a branch with Shift-Up and Shift-Down.

I must have forgotten about the Reload Last Settings option. Thanks for reminding me.
