Print to image dimensions - unwanted cropping

I have an easy work around for this problem, and I know that it may (yet again) be due to a mis-setting on my part.
On the other hand it might be a bug and causing others problems with a less satisfactory work around, so, here goes...
Equipment:
O/S: Vista Home Premium, latest updates.
Software: PWP 5.0.1.5
Printer: Epson R290 - a low (capital) cost 'photo quality' A4 ink jet printer with 6 cartridges.
Test image:
A 5.9"x3.9" white background with a 0.05" black border all around. Black and white. I tried colour with the same result.
Problem.
For a long time I've been aware that borderless printing in particular resulted in some cropping that was not shown in the print preview box. I compensated for this and put up with it until yesterday when I had a more critical application in which I was printing to image dimensions. This prompted me to try to track down the problem. After some trials I discovered that selectiong 'Photo Enhance' in the Epson preference dialog box induced the problem. I have been in the habit of selecting 'Photo Enhance' as it seemed to result in a slighly more pleasing prints.
The following screen shots show:
1. The Epson print dialog box with Photo Enhance NOT selected, and the resulting PWP print preview dialog box.
2. The Epson print dialog box with Photo Enhance selected, and the resulting PWP print preview dialog box.
3. A correctly printed image (Photo Enhance NOT selected) and a cropped-during-the-printing-process image (Photo Enhance selected).
I checked what other installed software I have which will print to image dimesions and was surprised to find that this is not standard. However Irfanview can. Trials with and with 'Photo Enhance' selected both produced 'correct' prints under Irfanview.
Obviously I can fix my 'problem' by NOT selecting Photo Enhance. My questions are:
1. Is this a 'bug'?
or 2. Am I doing something wrong?
Mike.
