PWP8 does not start after some transformations are cancelled

I do not know if it is not just a quirk of my PC.
1. Open an image
2. Run Test Patterns -> Checkerboard and click Cancel or "x" button.
3. Run Test Patterns -> Checkerboard again and click OK
4. Close the checkerboard thumbnail ->
The remaining input image thumbnail does not regain focus and canot be displayed in the image area.
Since that moment whatever second image is added and removed, the input image, if alone in the Browser, does not regain the focus.
5. Close the PWP8
6. The PWP8 will not start unless you restart the PC first.
Additional observations:
The same happens with Step Wedge and Texture - transformations independent of the input image.
But if any of the other transformations is run at step 3 there is no such problem.
It seems as if the order of the thumbails in the Browser also plays some role. The thumbnail images of the three mentioned transformations go before the input image while the others go after.
The input image focus can be regained by dblclick and Cancel button of the Replace Existing File box, or the mouse right click, still it does not help if the image is the only one in the Browser.
The PWP8 will not start even when you close the "culprit" image first.
