initial image orientation

Is it possible to have images that have been taken vertically open with "correct" orientation?

Also, I'm curious about Alt+Click image scrolling. Is that functionality gone for good? For instance, when zoomed in to 100% to perform cloning or speck removal, it would be handy to have the Alt+Click scrolling to pinpoint the working location.
