Combining a Lunar Eclipse Sequence

I would like to shoot the total lunar eclipse occurring at the end of September 2015. I'd like to take a shot of the landscape before moon rise followed by a series of shots, in sequence, beginning with the full moon, as it moves into the total eclipse, out of the eclipse, and ending with the full moon again. The time span between shots will be equal. Exposure will be different as the moon surface moves from bright to dark and back to bright. Is it possible to then create, using PW Pro, a single image composed of the landscape and the different stages of the lunar eclipse? If so, would it be HDR/Stack, Composite, or what? I've never done anything like this before so I don't know how to proceed with post-processing. I've been working with HDR images for over six years. Thanks for any comments or suggestions.

Easiest way I can think of is with Composite using the Lighten operation. This takes two images as input and scans them pixel by pixel, choosing the lightest one from each image. After merging the first two, merge the third with the result of merging the first two, and so on until you have combined them all. This way you don't have to create any masks since the moon is lighter than the dark sky background. I am assuming you will be using a tripod so the image don't need to be aligned.

Thank you. Sounds like a good idea. I'll try it.
