Loading raw images to Workflow window

I wanted to batch process a folder with raw .NEF images so I dragged the folder from the browser onto the workflow window but nothing happened as if the folder was empty. After some time I found that if this folder is not dragged directly itself but as a subfolder, in other words, if another folder containing that subfolder with the .NEF images is dragged onto the workflow window, the images are loaded as expected.
This happens only to some folders with .NEF images but I have not been able to find anything specific about them. Restarting PC nor deleting and recreating the browser files does not help. Renaming the folders does not help either, however copying or moving the raw images into a new folder and dragging that new folder directly to the workflow window does help.
It looks to me, as if those folders have somehow been marked as empty by a hidden process.

Also, when images are loaded through the button Add Files and more then one .wfl or .dop files are part of the selection (e.g. using shift + mouse click), the loading never finishes and has to be aborted. When only one .wfl file is part of the selection, the first or the last of the selected image thumbnails is replaced by an error thumbnail with the name of the folder. Would it make sense to automatically skip the .wfl and .dop files by the loading process if they happen to be a part of the selection of the images?

David,

Let me look at the problem. It would help me if you could send me a description of one specific case to test. Please send it to support@dl-c.com.

Thank you,

Kiril

After additional investigation on another PC (laptop) with 32bit version of PWP, where I encountered the same problem with one or two of the folders, I think I got it. Those folders that behaved like empty had the attribute "The folder is ready for archivation" set to true. The question is how that could happen if I never burrow into any folder nor file properties.

Taking into consideration that those problematic folders contain mostly raw files, the only explanation I am able to come up with at this moment is that it must have been set by a native transferring software such as Nikon Transfer, which I used until some time ago. What if there is even an option somewhere in its interface that does just this, sets the target folder to "ready for archivation", and I simply ignored or overlooked it? :)
I can download the Nikon Transfer and find out. Or does anybody know?

David, Kiril,

I can confirm the problem with folders that have the attribute "The folder is ready for archivation".
It affects not only NEF-files but also JPEGs.

I have checked the image transfer with the Nikon Transfer software. It does not seem to set the Ready for archiving property to true.
However Google confirmes that: "Archive (A) : This bit is used by software applications that modify files as well as backup software as a “communication link”.....
The whole article can be found here: http://www.2brightsparks.com/resources/ ... butes.html

Whether it is an OS automatic back-up process and any software application that turn that file attribute ON and OFF and propagate it to the folder, it is good for all concerned to know how to solve it: just uncheck on the Folder properties under Advanced the attribute "Ready for archiving" . It is also important to switch then the radiobutton on the "Confirm changes dialog box" to "Apply changes to this folder only" otherwise the change will not apply.

Here is another article about the subject. I guess it is valid not only for XP SP2. Also, it is one of the Window secrets, so please, don't say anybody. :)

Kiril,
as far as the second part of my original post is concerned, the one about loading the images through the Add Files button, it seems that if the "not-image" files are at the very end of the sorted selection, no error thumbnails appear in the workflow window. If the sort order is changed so that any not-image file (.browserinfo, .wfl, .dop) gets on the top or somewhere inside the selection list except the end, there either appears an error thumnail or the loading continues for ever depending on the number of those not-image files.
Do you need a specific description of a case to test on this part of the post?

I did fix a bug that had to do with workflow window refreshes and sort order. So that should be fixed for the next release.
