Mask Question

I have a number of photos from which I will be generating masks. However, the images are smaller (sometimes quite a bit smaller, like 500 X 500 versus 6000 X 6000 pixels) than the intended purpose. The images that the masks will be used on are native large size and I will only be using the mask and not the image from which the mask is generated (the original image will be discarded after the mask is obtained). To be able to use the masks on the much larger images, the original image or its mask need to be uprezzed.
So my question is - is there a quality benefit to generating the mask from the smaller image then uprezzing the mask or would it be no different than uprezzing the initial image first, then generating a mask from that?
Thanks,
Marv
