I too am looking forward to this new feature as I do lot of masked changes to images and have often wondered how to limit the histogram display to only part of the image. However, as I often use masks with significant feathering (often use the gradient tool to generate a mask) between the various areas to gently blend the change(s), I wonder what sort of impact the feathering portion will have on the histogram display. I'm sure the accompanying documentation will provide an explanation.
