Fuji X-Trans Sensor and PWP RAW demosaicking
There are reports out there, criticizing the RAW processing of data from Fuji X-Trans sensors (e.g. X-Pro 1, X-E1 and I'm not sure what others) due to its non-Bayer matrix arrangement. Essentially the RAW processing outside of the camera produces much softer images then when the camera processor is doing it. How does it look like in PWP RAW? Have anyone had done it, and what are the results?

(1) If you would like to experiment with a Fuji X-Pro1 *.RAF file, one could be downloaded from here: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/fujifilm-x-pro1/25
(2) A good source for background development based upon this *.RAF file is a series of three blogs starting here: http://chromasoft.blogspot.com/2012/05/ ... trans.html by Sandy McGuffog.
According to the blog, as of May 16, 2012, SILKYPIX is the official and supported raw developer for the X-Pro1...
...the X-Pro1 is supported by dcraw9.16 [its most recent version] and if you would like a windows multithreaded dcraw9.16 for experimentation with no software additions, it could be downloaded from here: http://www.heliconsoft.com/dcraw.html and it is freeware.
Dcraw will allow interpolation qualities of: bilinear, VNG, PPG, AHD, or RGGB as four colors.
...PWP 6.0.10's current dcraw version is 9.15 and I believe it too supports the X-Pro1 so PWP's Raw Dialog should do a conversion with dcraw's AHD or VNG interpolation depending upon preferences set in Raw Settings... ...or the Raw Dialog's Advanced Settings.
...anyway with the DPR's *.RAF file, you should be able to do fairly comprehensive comparisons.

Re: Fuji X-Trans Sensor and PWP RAW demosaicking
Addendum:
(1) PWP6's dcraw 9.15 apparently does not currently support X-Pro1 RAF file conversion. Attempting to open the suggested *.RAF file in the Raw Dialog results: "Error - Raw file is an unsupported type"... perhaps support will be avaialbe in the next program update.
(2) observed that "dcraw 9.16" will convert the file with Bilinear and VNG interpolation as a 'default' using dcraw.exe with options:
-v -w -H 2 -o 1 -6 -T... ...[messages, camera white balance, blended highlights, sRGB colors, 16bit tiff output]...
