I was surprised to discover yesterday that I couldn't make an ellipsis using the Text Transform in 5.01.14 though I can in 4.0.1.13
Using the phrase "Pleased", and a colour document 100 x 90 mm 300 dpi, any type face (of course I didn't try them all!!), 80 or 90 pixel font size.
In 5.0.1.4
Typed Result
Pleased. Pleased.
Pleased.. Pleased
Pleased... Pleased.
Pleased.... Pleased
In 4.0.1.13 the result was the same as that typed.
I realise that this is way out there of the fringe of what PWP is all about, but can anyone verify?
Mike.

Re: 5.0.1.4 Text Transform - ellipsis
Thanks, Bob,
Tried "Alt 0133"...
every way I could think of, but it didn't work for me.
Can you provide more detail?
Thanks, Mike.

Works for me, sort of, though I can only insert characters using the number pad, not the top line of keys. Also, make sure that the zero is included and that the 'Alt' key is held down whilst entering the digits. Also, the cursor in the text entry box needs to be 'blinking' throughout entry. I find that if I type a word and immediately press Alt and start entering digits, the cursor disappears with the first digit and the insert doesn't work. If I re-establish the cursor, it will then work. On the other hand, if I enter the character first (like the 'copyright' symbol, for example) it works straight off. Peculiar behaviour, and maybe not quite right, but at least it can be got to work.

To follow up on my previous post, of course this doesn't explain why v5 should be different to v4. I've just checked out character insert on v4.0.1.12 and that works just fine. This 'cursor loss' appears to be a v5 issue.

Re: 5.0.1.4 Text Transform - ellipsis
Ian,
Thanks for the detailed steps. I have now got the same result as you - it sort of works! Though instead of getting ... I get three dots at mid letter height followed by a comma!
However, the real issue is that the Text Transform accurately reproduces "Pleased..." (without the quote marks) in PWP4 but not in PWP5.
Why is it so?
Mike.

That's weird! When I get it to work in v5 it produces the word followed by three dots, at the baseline, and nothing else.

Ian,
Probably my incompetence.
In the unlikely event I need an ellipsis again I'll try to remember to use PWP4 if PWP5 is not fixed by then - assuming that it is a bug.

Re: 5.0.1.4 Text Transform - ellipsis
I can reproduce the fact that in PWP5 a row of points (.) is ignored.
A even number of dots (2, 4 ... ) produces no dot at all and a odd number (1,3 ,5 .. ) produces one dot.
This happens not only at the end but also in the middle of words.
