Cannot close Picture Windows Pro

Post by grahaminjapan »

I created a mask, used it and closed all my files. When I try to close the mask I get a message:

Window in use by amount mask. Cannot close.

Unfortunately I cannot exit Picture Windows either except by switching off the computer.

Is this a known bug?

Graham,

This is a bug if the window in question is indeed closed and not just minimized. If this happens again, could you please click the History tab in your browser and send me a screen shot of the Picture window window. You can send it to support@dl-c.com.

You can close Picture Window from the task manager by selecting the pw50.exe processes and clicking delete. That will not affect anything else on your computer.

Thank you

This may be the same issue I've experienced, but I haven't had to turn off my computer. After using a live mask with a transformation, sometimes I can't close the mask window. I just click OK and an unneeded mask is created, but the mask window closes.

Talking about closing the mask tool window. Currently when you want to close the mask tool after it has been used with a transformation, you always have to first "upper right" apply the mask to generate the mask image even though you will not need it and close it right after that. I see it is for the history purpose, so I dare to come up with a suggestion to warn the user already on his attempt to close the mask tool window that they are going to lose the mask, and if they agree, simply close the mask tool window together with the active mask, skipping thus the often unnecessary steps of applying the mask and right after that closing the mask image.
Or even better assign the Cancel button the function to close the mask tool window discarding the active mask without any warning.
If you use masking extensively and always have to apply the mask, find it among other windows to close it, confirm that you really want to close it, you will soon find you are doing a lot of unnecessary clicking.
Maybe there are others that will find it useful.
