Currently the paint tool has canned aspect ratios and orientation.
It would be convenient to control the paint tool shape geometry using rectangle and oval outlines with control handles with rotation
-- as per the oval gradient masks.

Fine angular and aspect ratio control would be equally useful for cloning.

feature requests :
- For both built-in and custom brush shapes, provide continuous brush width and orientation control. This could be provided using handles with rotation control. The brush width toolbar and the brush angle toolbar would still be operational to define brush attributes using discrete settings.
- When hovering a custom brush shape, it would be nice to display the actual brush area or outline rather than a rectangular box.
- For a custom brush shape, a directional pointer should be marked on the brush outline pointer.
- For a custom brush, which could have an asymmetrical pattern, the ability to mirror-flip the shape along vertical or horizontal axes could be useful. This feature could be accessible for quick access during painting in the image area, e.g. as a right-click menu entry. Controls for flipping would also be available on the paint tool control panel ( "brush mirror vertical - horizontal" )
