Mask dialog box : creating rectangular masks

Post by pierrelabreche »

Would it be possible to allow creating rectangular masks in the mask dialog box ?

There is a rectangle mask tool already.

My mistake. I meant : creating a rectangular gradient mask within the mask dialog box.

If you create a linear or oval gradient, you can then restrict it to a rectangle by switching the Mask Mode to Overlap and then using the Rectangle Mask Tool to draw the rectangle. This will remove the part of the gradient that is outside the rectangle.

This procedure doesn't have the same outcome as creating a mask using transformation Gradient > Oval ; type "Rectangular" (the well-known optical illusion).
