Crop Tool

Post by Marpel »

I had over a dozen images that I was cropping to a square format and wanted each image to have the same size.

Because the subject in the image that was to be the center of interest was placed differently, I had to move the bounding box a bit for each image.

Once I sized the square crop to the desired size in the first image, I merely used the Reload Last Settings for the rest, then moved the box (using the center cross-hair and/or hit the Center Horizontally or Vertically buttons).

I did not realize until I had done a bunch of them, that each time I hit either the Center Horizontally or Vertically button, the width and/or height increased by a single digit each time a button was pressed, making the bounding box (and resultant image) not square. Each subsequent image became wider or taller by the number of times I had clicked the respective Center button for all the preceding images.

Out of curiosity, I left the bounding box alone for an image and just hit Center Horizontally repeatedly. For each click, the width of the crop increased by one while the vertical number remained static.

Version 8.0.89

Not a big deal, but the dialogue box dimensions of the image do not change to reflect actual crop size when the crop tool is set to Square (as an example, for a 7000 X 4000 image, after the Square format is chosen, the crop boundary changes appropriately, but the dialogue numbers remain at 7000 X 4000).

If I move one of the corners to make the crop boundary smaller, however, the numbers then change to reflect the current image crop size.
