Saving while in Paint tool
I'm transitioning from 7 to 8. I'm confused about workflow with the Paint tool. I'm processing scans of children's story illustrations from century-old newspapers. After several other processing steps, there are still lots of little blotches and smears all over the image, mostly from the sloppy (by ...

Line and Arrow Tool
I'm transitioning from 7 to 8. I'm confused about the Line and Arrow tool in 8. I'm processing scans of children's story illustrations from century-old newspapers for inclusion in ebooks. One part of the workflow is to rotate them to exact horizontal. When these illustrations are zoomed to full scre...

7.0.20 frequent crashes using the Paint tool
I'm finding that 7.0.20 crashes a lot. It has always happened when I'm using the Paint tool. Yesterday it happened several times. Is there anything I can do about that, aside from saving more frequently? FWIW I'm on Windows 10, version 21H1. No error message, the window just disappears. I don't reca...

Re: Menu items disabled in 7.0.20
I tried it again in PWP 5 to be sure (5.0.1.11). I opened the same file, right-clicked and chose Display Info. At the top it said "Type: Binary Image". I did a Brightness Curve transformation. Right-clicked and chose Display Info again, now it says "Type: Black and White Image". ...

Re: Menu items disabled in 7.0.20
Thanks, that was the problem. I see now that PWP 5 did that conversion automatically.

Menu items disabled in 7.0.20
Part of my typical workflow in 5.0 is Brightness Curve and High Contrast. I opened a file in 7.0.20 to begin work on it and found both of those menu items disabled. Many other menu items were disabled too. I opened the same file in 5.0 and was able to do Brightness Curve and High Contrast, with the ...

Re: Trying to install 7.0.20
Thanks, I was glad to hear you're back in the game with an new version of PWP. I've been using it since v3.5 in 2004, upgraded to v5.0 in 2009. But I don't want to take the time to learn a new interface right now. When I saw that 7.0 was now free, that sounded great. I'm looking forward to the perfo...

Re: Trying to install 7.0.20
Thanks, but I tried turning off firewall and anti-virus, and got the same result. I tried starting up with non-microsoft services turned off in msconfig, and unnecessary startup items turned off in task manager, got the same result. I turned off the Safe Browsing feature in Chrome, same result. I tr...

Trying to install 7.0.20
I'm trying to install 7.0.20. It prompts me to save; no option to just install directly. When I click Save, nothing happens. And nothing appears in my Download folder. I've tried waiting hours. I've tried both the 64-bit version and the 32-bit version. Same problem happens trying to download the doc...
