Re: PWP7 does not run on Windows XP SP3
This post is just to say the issue I found has been solved with PWP 7.0.11 (the relevant part of its release notice is quoted below). The Picture Window Pro 7.0.11update is now available. The 32 bit version is now built so that it no longer requires the SSE2 instruction set. (SSE2 was introduced abo...

Re: PWP7 does not run on Windows XP SP3
Can I still keep believing a non-SSE2 build is on the works?
It's just a matter of rebuilding the sources with some added command-line parameters, after all... at least in principle.
There still are lots of people using daily non-SSE2 machines as their only computer...
Thanks in advance.
Cheers!

Re: PWP7 does not run on Windows XP SP3
Well, Kiril, I've got just one more piece of info I gathered after my previous post to offer: starting from those Dependency Walker traces I attached to a previous post and then looking at the executable using the built -in disassembler from PE Explorer, I found the following: From PWP_7.0.09_DW.txt...

Re: PWP7 does not run on Windows XP SP3
Thank you very much, Dieter! So, SSE2 support is really required. :( But that brings us round to MS VC++ 2012 again, because, if I'm not mistaken, it's the 1st MS VS that enables SSE2 by default . I did research a little about it, because I remebered the nvidia case , a relevant precedent regarding ...

Re: PWP7 does not run on Windows XP SP3
Sorry for the bump, but the forum software says I cannot edit my previous post anymore... I guess I've just hit jackpot! And, in fact, I don't like it a bit... :( PWP7 (v 7.0.10) runs OK in demo mode on my Asus Eee PC 900, which has an Intel Celeron M 353 (900 MHz) and 2 GiB of RAM... This seems to ...

Re: PWP7 does not run on Windows XP SP3
No, I do get the usual error happened window, so it's reasonably well behaved, not a hard crash pure and simple. PWP7_Error.PNG My XP SP3 is EN-US and is fully up-to-date, including this month's updates as released by MS on patch tuesday. I've done some more tests and attached the resulting logs, as...

Re: PWP7 does not run on Windows XP SP3
Thanks for your reply, Dieter! Are you sure you're running 32-bit PWP v. 7.0.10? My hardware is an Asus A7V600-X board, with an unlocked Athlon XP 3000+ (Barton) running at 2337 MHz and 3 GiB of DDR RAM... So I do think it's generally comparable to the hardware you described you're using. PS: Yes, I...

PWP7 does not run on Windows XP SP3
I'm a satisfied user of PWP6. However, since I bought my license recently, I was offered the upgrade to PWP7. I decided to try, removed PWP6 and installed PWP7. Then I found out it simply doesn't run on XP SP3. After some head scratching I've figured what's happening: PWP6, as well as its complement...
