One way to produce smoothly curved text is to first fan the image - it is possible to fan to a very close approximation to a semi-circle (and complete a circle with other text) - but the degree depends on what you want. To further distort the text you can use Composite, Perspective Warp as was done here, or use one of the other methods. This example ultimately may be used to partially surround a shot of the moon as part of a birthday card for a would-be astronaut. The final result would blend in with the colors in the shot, and may be embossed and/or given a "trailing glow."
