Free Image Hosting When you want to post an illustration or image to the DL-C message board that exceeds the 600 pixels wide and 30 KB file size board requirements, you can upload to: http://www.2and2.net/index.php?i=upload This site is Free Imagine Hosting with No Registration Required [and cookies can be turned off]... Once your image has uploaded, simply do a mouse 'right-clip'->copy in the resulting URL address box and then do a 'edit ->paste' to your message while in the editing mode. Read the site's rules.... and you will no longer have control over the image so don't post anything you don't to loose or have circulated.... There may also be an unspecified file size and dimension constraits.... so if you cannot upload, first reduce the file size [under 200 KB seems to be okay] and then pixel dimensions [max. dimensions unkown at the time of this post]. | ||||

To avoid a too long list of profiles, wich i never use, i created a new folder ...\colorunused paralel to the normal ...\color wich holds the profiles. In that \colorunused folder i moved all profiles i will never use, like other working colorspaces, default printer-, monitor-, camera-, scannerprofiles. This keeps the profilelist to a handy length and if i really will need one of the profiles, i can simply copy it back to the normal folder. | ||||

Should you wish to try your hand at editing an image from the web, you can drag the photo from your browser to the PWP work area. Faster than copy/paste and much faster than saving and reopening. | ||||

I have upgradet my PWP-Tips and Tricks document, and i also have upgradet my Fan-Curve calculation spreadsheet, you can now calculate Width and Hight from the Radii, Angle and Curvature, too. I also corrected minor errors. Feel free to send me your sugestions or if you find errors or unclear things. I will work it in as soon i have time.

International calendariums When creating calendars with Transformation/Special Effects/Calendar the names of the months and the abbrevations for the days are in the language wich is set in Regional Options in Windows Control Panel (Main/Locale). So if set to English, the english names are displayed, the german names when set to German and so on. | ||||

Raw file developed with dcraw (http://cybercom.net/~dcoffin/dcraw/) can now be opened directly in picture window. The new -T tiff option instructs dcraw to output a tiff file. Before you had to convert a ppm or psd file to something supported by picture window with an external program. This is nice for users of older PW versions without raw support. There is some advantages for 4.0 users to, like highlight recovery and noise reduction. I forgot to add: Lorenzo have posted a nice workflow for flat raw files in the beta forum . Den's 3Tone Range Adjustment procedures are better, but more complicated. Lorenzo's workflow are perfect for album images. Here is Lorenzo's tips: ********** 1. gray, levels and colors, full range 2. gray, gamma adjust: play with preview window and do at your liking (the "best" gamma depends from the picture and your personal taste) 3. color saturation: again play with the preview: in general some boost is more appealing 4. sharpen, unsharp mask, amount 100% radius 2 threshold 0 5. sharpen (again) unsharp mask, amount 25% radius 40 threshold 0 ********* My addition to this are to add some midtone contrast in step 1. If the image need much gamma adjustment in step 2, I prefer to use a small amount of bilateral filtering with dcraw. I like also to use some threshold in the sharpening steps to protect blue sky's. |
