Hello

I have found the best way for my needs to store my original pictures, but i still search for the best way to organize the processed images, mostly with respect to the proportions.
My camera files have either 3:4 from my "little" bridge or 2:3 from my DSLR.
My most used print out formats are 13x18 cm (5:7), 18x24cm (3:4) and 20x30cm (2:3).
How do you handle to save the processed pictures ?
My momentary way ist to have directories for every proportion (5x7, 2x3 and 3x4) with subdirectories for the event but it gets quite unpractical with more pictures.
I thought to have just directories for events and the code the filenames with something like _57, _23 or _34 to code the proportions.
Maybe you have better ideas or suggestions ?

Notice the file-naming convention under "Digital Image File Management". I stumbled on the clarkvision site recently but I've used a technique like this for years. Like his, my directory structure is built around subjects. And I especially like the idea that this method of organization doesn't rely on proprietary software to maintain it.

I will give this method it a try.
Like you, i also like the idea of not depending to a catalogue software.
As an amateur, i do not have several 100 000s of pictures to manage with the aid of a professional software.
