Doesn't seem to effect the outcome, but it is a little distracting at first -- Was selecting the sky around a treeline using the Paint function in a mask, and when adding to the mask selection (Shift+Click) the mask shifts when the mouse is clicked, and then looks normal when the mouse click is finished:


I don't see this with Flood Fill, which also uses Shift+Click to add to the mask.

I have a short screen capture movie available, if necessary.

This is a known issue that I have on my list to fix -- it affects all the tools that paint directly on an image such as Mask Paint, Paint, Clone, Smudge, etc. and is due to optimizations that are a little off in certain cases.
