Wrong colours in PEF files

I don't use PWP for manipulating or converting PEF files as it's way too slow to convert dozens let alone 100's of photos but also because the colours in PEF files are WAY out. I converted a PEF file to DNG & opened that in PWP & the colours were fine - nice strong BLUE sky etc. The PEF file has a nice strong BROWN sky! I wonder why this is.

You should make sure that you set Whitepoint in File/Raw Settings to Camera White WB. This is the best setting to use a default.

If this is a very new camera, it may not be supported yet. You can send me a sample image at support@dl-c.com. Use www.yousendit.com for sending loarge images.

As Kiril suggests, if it is a K7, it might not be supported by the dcraw version that PW uses. (Only the newest dcraw supports the K7). I think you see one of the reasons to store your files as DNG here!

In this case it is a new K-7 but I had the same problem with my Pentax *istD. The odd thing is PEF photos converted to DNG display OK in PWP.

The K-7 is not supported in the current release. It will be supported in the next upgrade.

Oh good. I'm off to Laos & Cambodia for a month so I can shoot in PEF knowing the new version will cope with them.
