What is the make/model of your primary camera?: Pentax K1

Exif-Data (Focal Length(mm)) is incorrect

Post by Winfried »

After saving a jpg with PWP 6 (XP SP3) the field "Focal Length(mm)" is corrupted while the field "Equiv 35mm FL" is still ok.
Focal Length(mm) seemes to be set to a value of 0.0052
Camera is a Pentax k-5 with different lenses, Firmware 1.11, but I do not think it is a hardware/firmware problem.

Thanks,
Winfried

Hi Winfried,

I can't reproduce your observation. I also use a Pentax K5, firmware 1.11. When I convert a raw file in PWP6 and save as .jpg, the exif fields show e.g. "focal length 4500mm", "focal length 67mm (in 35mm film)". So the decimal point seems to have disappeared. This doesn't happen when I save as tif. If I re-save the tif as jpg, the decimal point disappears again.
But don't let this minor inconvenience spoil your Xmas ;-)

you are right. It is just a minor inconvenience.
Nevertheless I did another test:
I extracted an embedded jpg from a K-5-dng-file.
With this original jpg everything is ok, but if I save this file again with PWP6 the Focal Length-Field is bad again.
No problem if I save the original jpg as tiff.

Thanks,
Winfried
