Re: UniWB - Practical Use?

Maciej, Iliah Borg has written numerous forum responses concerning UniWB and he has developed curves for several Nikon models. You might try a search based on his name plus UniWB for user experience.

Re: feather and gaussian blur nr of pixels

For those rare occasions when I thought I needed more, I have:
  • 1. Downsized the raw mask
    2. Feathered to the percentage of the mask dimensions that I want
    3. Upsized the feathered mask to exactly its original size

Re: computing the area of an objec

Posted too quickly You can also calculate (using a little trigonometry) absolute object dimensions using the FOV and focus distance reported in the detailed detailed EXIF metadata. [KUSO gives the most detailed EXIF readout that I've found.] Absolute dimensions may or may not be useful depending on ...

Re: PWP's Composite-Blend transform & RGB Gamma's

Or, for perhaps a simpler way to generate the complement, 1. Generate the RGB rectangle as described by Den 2. Click on "new" and generate a new white rectangle of the same size 3. Open the filter dialogue with the white image as input and the RGB as overlay 4. Check the complement box and...

Re: Digital Negatives for Platinum and Palladium Prints

Nicely done with the anchored boat, Den. The suggested procedure of modifying brightness and saturation is often a nice touch for adjusting the mood of tinted images. It can, of course, be accomplished by any of several transformations available in PWP. My favorite method (at least currently) is to ...

Re: Replacing Complex Tone/Color Backgrounds

Den, I think we all recognize that the absolute difference method will not work equally well for all images. Still, it is something that may be worth storing "in the back corner of the toolbox". BTW, I like the shot and the processing for the coons playing in the yard. The processing is su...

Re: Replacing Complex Tone/Color Backgrounds

A simpler method for making the mask (at least for this image) is:
1. generate the absolute difference image
2. use the high contrast transformation with slider at 99+% to generate the 8-bit mask

Note: This works with older PWP too

Re: Adding noise anyone?

In all fairness, not all films are equal, so you must define exactly what "look" you are seeking. Norman Koren discusses some differences between film and digital responses and also differences between some films. He also suggests a particular PWP curve form for simulation of film contrast...
