Re: Simulating Camera styles/film types in RAW with Macbeth

Mike,

Thanks, that would be great try if what I think may work at your end and for the different RAW files that I use. Please give me a couple of days to design it first and I'll get back to you. Cheers!

RAW dialog: properties not displayed in 5.0.1.5.

I noticed that the Properties fields in RAW dialog in PWP 5.0.1.5 don't display for any .CR2 files. They do display for the same files in 5.0.1.4. Can that be confirmed?

Simulating Camera styles/film types in RAW with Macbeth

I wonder if others would be interested in colaborating on it. The idea is this: I'm having trouble with colour gamut of processed RAW images; either I don't like the colours or, when I correct them to my liking, it's not automated and I have hard time keeping the consistency. So I figured that perha...

Re: High ISO Digital Monochromic [BW] Imaging

With Texture, the Power between -1 and 0 seems to be a good starting point for modifying with Frequency sliders.

Popular Photography review

The review and the exposure is great. One issue that I've been already asked about several times is the emphasis on the price. While it's true that PWP is a bargain, it's not it's main strength. It may give an impression that it's a poor-man's PS, which it's not.

Re: High ISO Digital Monochromic [BW] Imaging

"I am not sure that a texture overlay is going to work as it is too regular - in that it effects light, mid and dark tones similarly." Tony, but if you sandwich it through the reversed brightness mask, it should add more grain as the tones get darker? I haven't tested it enough to say if i...

Re: Macbeth Colour Checker and Illumination temperature

Sure, but what what do I get from Colour Match if I offer it a Macbeth photographed at sunset? I guess what I don't understand is what is the physical checker illumination white point (or spectrum) that either Colour Match or the published theoretical RGB values in different colour spaces are trying...

Re: High ISO Digital Monochromic [BW] Imaging

Den, have you tried filtering with a texture through a reversed brightness mask? The textures can be made quite irregular but still 'lumpy' with large panel size and combination of other sliders. To me the right texture added via brightness mask can look like real film grain, but I can't experiment ...

Macbeth Colour Checker and Illumination temperature

I'm trying to understand how to interpret the RGB values of Makbeth colour checker in different colour spaces. I think what I'm missing is the illumination that is supposed to produce such reflection off the chart. Would it be one of the CIE standard illuminant series: C? D? What practical illuminat...
