Re: Adventures in Wide Space

Here is an interesting experiment on creating an optimized (not necessarily for the camera sensor gamut) working colour space, using variety of colour targets. http://www.brucelindbloom.com/index.html?ColorCheckerCalculator.html Also, interesting description of the anatomy of various colour spaces: ...

Match Reference: save/load reference settings

I'm having a little trouble with Match Reference transformation/widget. Saving reference settings works fine, but using them again (i.e. Opt/Load Reference Settings), then Previewing or displaying it results in either 'unrecognized error' or 'Missing or invalid target image', even though the 'Using ...

Re: Adventures in Wide Space

Norman Koren describes why knowing the ICC profile for a camera doesn't describe its gamut (last section):

http://www.gamutvision.com/docs/camera_scanner.html

I don't quite understand it still: what sensor response data are exactly required to create a sensor-fitting colour space?

Re: ProPhoto space

You can download ProPhoto ICC profile from Kodak: http://www.kodak.com/global/en/professional/member/service/software/kproHost/equipProfiles/WorkingSpace.jhtml Once you uncompress the files, right click on ProPhotoRGB.icm, and Instal it (on XP it installs in C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\drivers\color; ...

Re: Macbeth Colour Checker and Illumination temperature

If the Colour Management is disabled and the Working Colour Space is set to 'None', the Match Profile still works. What gamma, primaries and white point does it use it this case to calculate theoretical R'G'B' values for patches? Also, what's the reference for the CIE XYZ values used in the calculat...

Re: EXIF stripping in workflow

For small JPG files intended for on-line viewing, EXIF, ICC profile and other metadata can represent a significant portion of the file size (often more than a 'clean' JPG with the metadata stripped). JPG's without metadata will show just the same in most web browsers, but will load much faster. Anot...

Manual Sort in Workflow Window

Could others check it out: - Drag 3 images to the workflow window - Sort manually - the sorting window appears, with 3 images in one row, and an empty space for the next image to the right - move the middle image to the RHS end; move the middle image to the RHS end again In my case it either crashes...

Mike, try Save As with no Comments/Profile, then close PWP, start it up again and use Save widget.

Colour Picker and entering exact values

I think I developed a personal issue with the colour picker. Even when the RGB values are switched to 0..255 integers in Options, entering the exact values is really difficult. Not only the values are rounded? down as others are entered, but also there is a ~1 second opportunity window to enter an e...

Re: EXIF stripping in workflow

FastStone is another option, but with less control of what's being removed than ExifTool+GUI. It would be nice if remove metadata and colour profile JPG save options rubbed off on the widget, but I think that as it is at the moment there is a way of batch stripping in PWP already - the latest stripp...
