Clone/Paint softness profile
May be this is just me, as I don't recall seeing any previous comments about this, but when I use clone or paint there is always a tendency to see the effects of the 'primary disk', even if a large setting for softness is used and a degree of transparency is employed. I attribute this, rightly or wr...

Re: Why are some features not available as widgets?
I too have wondered why 'Advanced Sharpen' isn't available as a widget. I don't use workflows for batch processing, but rather to give me the option to re-visit and tweak settings. Sure, I can do (and have done) that by saving the parameters of the various transformations individually along with int...

Re: Which Graphics Card?
The RAM usage of the onboard controller isn't that important and completely not with an 64-bit OS. You get about 8GB ram for the price of the separate card. Most recent onboard controllers are quite good for still images. Hi Well, I can't really argue with that logic! If I remember correctly though...

Re: Which Graphics Card?
I don't think that the display of still images makes great demands on the graphics abilities of the pc, unlike that demanded for gaming, for example. So you should consider other uses to which your pc is to be put. But I'd certainly go for a separate graphics card rather than use onboard graphics to...

Re: PWP 6 Released
Manual works fine for me on Win 7 Prof, 64bit.
Will there be a pdf version of the manual suitable for printing please?
Ian
Edit: Sorry, forget that! I see that the manual opens as a pdf

Re: PWP 6 Released
Ah, great, I've been waiting for this. I can now load it onto my new 64 bit machine!
BUT, the upgrade purchase for PWPro v5 doesn't seem to be included, only v4.x and earlier. Is that an error or is the v5 upgrade for no charge?
Regards
Ian

Re: Processing colour negatives
Thanks Kiril, I might have known that there was already a feature in PWPro! However, the result I get is rather speckled (a bit like noise, with a bit of chroma thrown in). Maybe I need to work at it a bit more, though I have to admit that the original is of an ancient sepia toned monochrome print, ...

Processing colour negatives
I have a digitised version (TIFF in Adobe colour space) of an image taken on colour negative film. What is the best way of processing this and dealing with the colour mask please, using PWPro v5? (The negative is too large for my film scanner so I am unable to use the scanner software to convert). T...

Re: Measurement patch printing
Sorry Jonathan, but I think I am even more confused. As I understand it the colour patch files have no assigned colour space and should be printed "as is" without any intervening colour management. Do I take you to mean that if an untagged image is assigned, in the absence of a colour spac...

Re: Measurement patch printing
I was wondering about that. If I have set an assumed profile as, say, sRGB, then that will be applied. Will that be a problem? It presumably was so in the Lightroom case I cited. Even if the assumed profile is set to 'none' in the Colour Management dialogue, it looks as though the image is tagged wi...
